Does the iTalk require software?
No, the iTalk does not require any additional software to work. The iPod normally includes the necessary software that allows the iTalk to record onto your iPod.
If you are using a compatible iPod but it does not appear to support Voice Memo recording, then make sure you have installed the latest iPod software update from Apple.
3rd Generation iPods must have iPod software version 2.1 or later installed for the iTalk to work. If you are unsure which version you have installed, you can check this by navigating to the Settings > About menu directly on the iPod.
