The iPod isn't responding to my remote commands.

Make sure that you have the most up to date iPod firmware on your iPod. You can do this by connecting your iPod to your computer. Once your iPod mounts in iTunes, you'll see it appear in your source list on the left side of your iTunes window under DEVICES. Click on the iPod logo in that list, and you should see an iPod management window. Click on the Summary tab. Under the Version heading, you'll see a button that says Update. Click that button and install any updates that are available.
