My computer keeps locking up during file transfers! (Mac)
Some conflicts came up with Mac OS 10.5 that caused kernel panics, transfer errors, and all sorts of other interesting things to occur when using the eSATA ExpressCard with external drives. Fortunately, these issues appear to have been addressed with Apple's 10.5.2 update.
If you are still experiencing any issues with transferring data using the eSATA ExpressCard, you'll need to uninstall the driver by deleting the following folder:
- Applications > Utilities > Application Support > Silicon Image
Or, if you're running Mac OS 10.5.3 or later, you'll find it here:
- System > Library > Extensions > SiliconImage3132.kext
Then reinstall with version 1.1.9 from the Silicon Image site. You can download that driver directly by clicking HERE.
